Dear Colleagues:

As part of the University of California’s (UC) efforts to act in accordance with the UC Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct (PDF), the Office of the President has asked campuses to prepare for the rollout of UC Ethical Values and Conduct training, which is planned to begin in the first week of April 2018. The training program will reinforce the standards and provide information about reporting instances of non-compliance.

Under this initiative, the Office of the President is asking all UC locations to ensure that employees on payroll with active status complete the training on ethical values and standards every two years. It was last offered in 2012.

The training is video-based and delivered online through the UC Learning Center. Employees will receive an email notification when the training becomes available and will have up to six weeks to complete it. It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. For those employees who do not have access to online training, alternative methods of in-person training will continue to be made available to satisfy this requirement.

If you have any questions about the Ethics training requirement, contact Johnny Kidd, UCLA’s Compliance Coordinator, at compliance@ucla.edu or at (310) 983-3143.

We will appreciate your assistance in circulating this memo to employees in your organizations to ensure effective compliance. Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,
